Do you like cheese? And coffee? And cheese coffee? Before twisting the nose for this, find out about its history and, who knows, you’re not going to be the next fan of this delicacy that bring together two of the world’s greatest passions.
Coffee cheese was created in Denmark, where a partnership between the coffee roaster The Coffee Collective and the dairy company Arla Unika made possible the joint development. The research began in 2014 and the final product was now introduced and is available on the market.
In the tests there were used several coffees with different intensities, but only Finca Vista Hermosa, grown in Guatemala, was chosen for the marketed product. 250 liters of coffee were added to 2500 litres of organic milk. The template recipe for the creation was the gouda cheese and then they made a few changes to insert the coffee. The complete process, from production to maturation takes 8 months and the result is a firm texture cheese at the edges and soft on the inside, which can be cut with a knife and not break into crumbs. Despite the dark coloration, the product does not have the strong taste of the beverage, but just a subtle aroma.
To complement the experience, guests can taste harmonization of cheeses with coffee and beer in cafes at the city. Unfortunately the cheese is only for sale in Copenhagen in limited edition and there are only 120 units 2 kilos each.
And if you are addicted to coffee, how about a picture made with it? Professor Ted Kinsman from the Rochester Institute of Technology in the United States, used a 3D printer to print pictures. The technique is called “pointillism” and deposits drops of coffee in 53 different tones with different spacing and sizes, thus creating a complete picture.
Surrender to 50 shades of coffee and enjoy a coffee cheese.
