A limited edition of the well-known Nestlé chocolate hit the market in Japan, bakeable kitkat is available with ice cream flavor. Ideal to pair with … yes, ice cream!

In fact this is not the first ovenable edition of chocolate. In 2014 it was launched pudding flavor and the success was so great that they returned with the sweet potato and cheesecake versions.

Now here is the new ice cream flavor. The appearance is that of a white kitkat with brown flakes, probably caramel, to form that crunchy crust after roasting.

Yes, it is possible to bake any kitkat in the oven (if you make the experience at home, always take care on the time, chocolate burns in a few minutes), however these bakeable versions, besides forming a crust crust on top, probably have greater resistance to heat (I say probably because I have no access to formulation or production, so I can not say for sure).

The most interesting thing here, from the point of view of innovation management, is the ability to keep a product so traditional and well known always innovating. The traditional Kitkat is always on sale, but for lovers of novelties, there are several limited editions. And it also generates spontaneous media around these new products.

Even traditional and products beloved by the consumers may be targets of innovation. Who says you can not change a winning team?
